Filmology Rating: 3.5 out of 4

Spotlight is probably the best investigative journalism movies I have ever seen. Michael Keaton, Mark Ruffalo, Rachel McAdams, Stanley Tucci and more, make up an all star cast that all deliver amazing performances as investigative journalists working for the Boston Globe in a division called "Spotlight". The funny thing about this movie is that they all give flawless performances that are award winning roles but none of them try and outshine the other. Nobody expect for one instance in the film, goes out and delivers what would be the little 10-15 sec video blip after their name is read at the Oscars. What each person does is play a character that is a very normal working class person that is just doing their job to uncover a very sick and true story. The story being of priests in the Catholic church doing unspeakable things towards children and then lawyers and law enforcement not doing anything about it. This story takes place in Boston but this soon turned out to be a bigger issue than these investigative journalists could ever imagine. Like I said before, this characters are very believable and react in a way that is exactly how normal people would react in a similar situation. Because of this, I think viewers will be able to connect and to stay engaged in a film that is fact ridden and over 2 hrs. If nothing else, go see this movie for the acting performances because they are worth the movie ticket alone.
